Why Silver Springs State Park?
Multitude of reasons – hiking, boating (no boat rentals though), fishing an archery. And the place looks special during Chicago fall color peak.

We parked at below location and started our hike but should have gone further in instead. If you point your GPS here, you will not make the same mistake.

The best part of the hike

At above point, the trail went deep into the woods.

The trail through the woods looked both intriguing and enticing
Everything was going well but then the summer storm hit all of a sudden. In a matter of 5 minutes, we rain turned into a massive hail-storm.

The rain was as wild as a tropical thunderstorm could be and forced us to put our hike “on the ice”.
Another clear day and the hike was delightful.
