Why go for Gilson Park Beach and Bahai combo?
Gilson Park is a wonderful little beach away from the hustle and bustle of usual known Chicago shorelines like Oak Street or North Avenue – boasting of picnic areas, tennis and volleyball courts, soccer area and of course, 60 acres of coastline. Added Bonus – it has a separate dog beach as well!
Bahai Temple at Chicago, apart from being one of the architectural stunners of our region, is a great place to connect with your inner self, reflect or meditate.

Gilson Park Beach
The shoreline is a little on the smaller side but extremely well equipped – picnic areas with grill crates, tennis and volleyball courts, bathroom and shower areas, and a Fat Shallot stand with a versatile veg/non-veg food menu.
Tip: Parking is a real mess. Please try to purchase daily parking slot from here.
Once you go past the rocks, you get to the dog beach. Want to see the aerial view?
As we strolled around the beach, we found some peculiar artifacts.

The ‘Lone Tree’ on the beach.

A sailboat braving the harsh currents

Crashing waves, the never-ending flow of tranquility
And for once, the kids also paused to admire nature’s elegance.

Bahai Temple
Post the beach frolics, we walked over to the Bahai House of Worship.

The picturesque yacht club on the way to the temple
They have ample parking inside the temple premises and in front of it.
#Funfact – there is only one Bahai temple in every continent.
We approached via a paved path to the temple.

Once you enter the temple, you would notice the high dome ceiling with inscriptions on the Bahai religion. The temple epitomizes inner peace and tranquility – you could hear a pin drop inside. No chantings, deities, pictures – just serenity!

You can circle around and find a completely diverse view!

As sunlight dwindled, our peculiar picnic combo culminated as well.

So Long.. Gilson Park.
